Ariadne could feel their approach. It had been so long since someone had fallen into her web, so long spent sleeping, turning her face to the dark. She snared one morsel, a child from the sea with liquid-grey eyes shining like the moon. There were hairs attached to that one, a lattice moonlight-fine, stretching back, back the way it came.

Ariadne took one of those hairs and pulled. The hair became a string, and she snared larger game, a witch with fire-bright hair and magic that tastes like acid. Another thread strings from that one into the unknown, one that bleeds like a gold coin in the dark, shining and thin and rare.

Ariadne takes a seat, arranging her skirts around her, and waits to see what she can see.
